Daddy's Voice
His eyes were blue
His hair was grey
and his hands were strong
His smile was kind
He worked hard
And he worked all day long
He liked to pray
And I was in his prayers every night
Every day
He gave me wisdom and he taught me wrong from right

Losing Daddy was the hardest thing I've known
Thank God for Mama & my friends
I'd give anything in this world that I own
If I could hear my Daddy's voice again

He'd tell me no
and I'd roll my eyes and give him such a hard time
He didn't know
how lost I'd feel without him here tonight

That I'd remember every little word he said then
How he would smile
If he had known how much I try to be just like him

Sometimes I laugh about his same old crazy stories
Sometimes I just break down & cry
I wish I had a dollar for every funny word he said
I wish he never had to say goodbye

He liked to sing
Him and Mama taught me all the good old hymns
They stood behind my dreams
and showed me how to work for what I believed in
